Connecting Threads is a collaboration between textile artist Stephen Tornero and fashion designer Stephen Drake based on their shared love of textiles and fashion. Drake is a skilled tailor who enjoys working with old textiles and garments, giving them new life and purpose. Tornero is a weaver who creates textile work within the fiber shed of Ohio, keeping a low carbon footprint. In addition to their shared interest in sustainable production, they also both enjoy bold patterns and punchy colors. The work in the show celebrates this collaboration between these two creatives, celebrating the connections between their two practices.

April at Gallery 202
Owner's Showcase Featuring Natalie Rich and Mark Yasenchack.
Natalie has just returned from leading the Gallery 202 Artisan Retreat (her first!) in Morocco and her photography will be joined by Leslye Discont Arian's Drawn to the Walls of Marrakesh and Jill Milenski's oil pastels of iconic views from Marrakesh and Essaouira.
Mark Yasenchack will line the walls with his intricate mosaics and feature his whimsical birds and memento boxes.
Opening Wednesday, April 16th, 4 - 7 PM with light Moroccan snacks and a slideshow of our adventures. Jill Milenski will share her daily sketches of the 10-day retreat.

Thank you to everyone that joined us in person or online for Jill Milenski's artist talk. Jill presented her creative process and motivation in her talk centered on the Colors of Europe series. Exploring her preferred oil pastels and displaying her sketchbooks, the presentation is available for viewing if you missed it.

Painting can be an expansive practice, sensitive yet violent, temporal, contemplative,
bold and transformative. As a process it can move both fast and slow, be impatient yet kind, be tense and poetic—all the while performing a crafted cadence of oppositions. In my work layers of paint are exposed so the viewer can see a delicate unraveling of documentation and process. These layers look gestural, architectonic, and graphic.
They are a collection of influences, passages, and intersections.

Ron Copeland’s lamps are original art objects that blend photography, reclaimed elements, and a love for exploring.
“When I can, I take the long way home. Whether it’s taking the Lincoln Highway or a back road that looks like it could lead somewhere I’ve never been. After doing this my entire adult life, I still wasn’t quite prepared for what I would take in on Route 66. As the calendar flipped from 2022 to 2023, I sped down America’s favorite forgotten road in search of interesting and fleeting things.”

I create in celebration of my "good weird" tribe - all of us who live life coloring outside the lines, making our mark in unique ways that delight and bewilder.
